How do you help someone who doesn’t want to be helped?

I remember a conversation with a friend regarding this friend’s uncle, who used to be a very good father, and a good friend. Unfortunately, he got hooked into drugs, and when his family found out, it was almost too late. He was hanging on for dear life. His family sent him to a drug treatment center, from which he tried to escape several times.

Now this is a story that brings sadness to one’s heart. Mine in particular. Not only because this is not just someone somebody was talking about. This is someone i knew, and never thought would be capable of doing drugs. He used to be a family person. He was blessed with a good family. And he had a good head on his shoulders. But i guess all of that is not enough. Drugs, as we all know, not only destroys a person, but also the lives of people around him, who loves him.

For once, when this friend confided in me, i was out of words. All i could do was listen and give her a hug. Hoping that somehow, it helps.

Have you received yours yet? Electronic distributions are said to be completed by mid-month. For direct deposits, if the last two digits of your social security number are 00-20, you should have received yours already. It was scheduled to go out May 2nd. For social security numbers with last two digits of 21-75, May 9th and 76-99, May 16th.

If you are supposed to get your tax rebate by check, then you’re going to wait a while. Check the dates here.

Additionally, you can visit the IRS’ Where’s My Stimulus Payment web site, and find out what the IRS knows about your rebate. Make sure you have your:

• Social Security Number
• Filing status (Single, Married Filing Joint Return, Married Filing Separate Return, Head of Household, or Qualifying Widow
• Number of Exemptions shown on your 2007 tax return

You can also check the Where’s My Refund site, where you can check the status of your regular tax refund if you haven’t received yours yet.

This week’s theme for LP is beloved mother, very timely for the upcoming mother’s day on Sunday. So naturally, the first thing that crossed my mind is my beloved mother. But, i am not sure whether i really want my mom’s pic plastered all over the internet. So Sorry.

Back in 2005-2006, i had a pretty active blog. I wrote about all my feelings and everyday musings. I stopped when DH’s crazy ex wont stop ’stalking’ me. I didn’t save the entries but this morning, i searched the web if at least some of the pages were cached. And i found some. Let me share with you my January 2006 entry:

When was the last time you dreamed? I`m not talking about sleep-dream. I`m talking about the someday-i’ll-be and someday-i’ll-have kind of dreams. Didn`t u use to do that when you were young? Dream BIG, i mean. Didn`t u use to want to be everything you can be, wanted to have the BEST things in life… What now? I think as we grow old and face with reality day after day, things get too hectic and complicated that we lose ourselves and our ability to dream. That`s a shame, i think. Coz having dreams is like having an unexplainable force that fuels your very soul to achieve what you want to achieve. And no one should ever lose that drive.

Today i dreamed again. And i felt more alive than i have felt in a couple of weeks. And it`s more beautiful coz i have someone to share my dreams with, who`s dreaming with me, and who has the same dreams as i do. Today, i felt like i have set a standard and a path to which my life will go through. And it`s wonderful. It`s an adventure. I know it`ll be hard. But i dont care, coz i know i`m not alone. And i know we can do it. We can.

i`m so excited, i can`t wait to get started!!!! Ngayon na! Dali! Hahahaha

“wala po. wala po kaming pera pang-iskwela”

iyon lamang at parang tinusok ang aking puso. Sa ganitong edad, wala akong problema kundi kung ilang minuto pa bago ang recess o anong panonoorin ko sa telebisyon pagkatapos ng iskwela. Nakakalungkot na sa murang edad, imbes na gugulin ang oras sa pagiging bata at sa pag-aaral, ay pwersado ang batang ito na magtrabaho para makatulong sa kanyang pamilya.

The 2008 tax rebates are coming early!

Those tax rebates will start showing up in people’s bank accounts Monday, four days early. For those who didn’t select direct deposit on their tax returns, the checks will begin hitting the mail May 9, a full week ahead of schedule.

If you have direct deposit, your rebate should be in by May 2nd. If you opted for check, the exact date you receive a stimulus check will depend largely on the last two digits of your Social Security number. check this MSN article with the dates. Or:

00-09 May 9
10-18 May 23
19-25 May 30
26-38 June 6
39-51 June 13
52-63 June 20

So i may get my tax rebate by next week! wee!
